Then-Sergeant First Class William Claude Poole was killed in action on that fateful day of 6 March 1967, while serving as the Platoon Sergeant of the 1st Platoon, B Co, 1st Bn. MSG Poole and I both were Platoon Sergeants, me with the 2nd Platoon and him with the lst Platoon of B Company. He was a great soldier and friend of mine. He is sadly missed by me and will never be forgotten.
